What are your favorite weird food combinations?
Submitted by Dulce.
I don't know if this is really a favourite, but a friend of mine loves peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches. Out of sick, morbid curiosity, I tried it one day, and you know what? I didn't hate it. I've even had it since. It's a weird salty-sweet / creamy-crunchy contradiction in one's mouth.
It's unquestionably wrong, and maybe that's what drew me to its forbidden tastiness.
What word(s) do you always make a typo in?
Unfailingly, I always mistype tempalte. I mean template.
What were your top 5 TV shows of 2006?
The Office
Those who dared to ignore the intellectual comedy snobs who wouldn't give the American version a chance against the "vastly superior" British original were rewarded when Carrell's Office finally came into its own and, dare I say it, outshone its predecessor.
Deadwood
"Pain or damage don’t end the world, or despair or fucking beatings. The
world ends when you’re dead. Until then, you got more punishment in
store. Stand it like a man—and give some back."
QI
I discovered this show searching for clips of A Bit of Fry & Laurie on YouTube, and quickly downloaded torrents of the entire series (so far). The supreme Stephen Fry hosts a trivia show with rotating comedian panelists in which correct answers aren't nearly as important as interesting ones. It's Jeopardy! meets Whose Line Is It Anyway?.
House
In its third season the show starts to veer away, ever so slightly, from its formulaic "You're cured! Wait, you're worse! Okay, now you're really cured!" storylines. But even when it does seem repetitive, Hugh Laurie still gives the best performance on TV. Actually it's a pretty even tie between Dr. Gregory House and Deadwood's Al Swearengen.
Heroes
Cheap, fun, dark, serial sci-fi-fantasy. Finally a worthy replacement for The X Files!
How well do you know your next-door neighbors?
Not at all. In one neighbouring house there lives a guy, probably my age, who whenever I see him is always working on his car. He loves that car. He's always cleaning it, tuning it, under its hood, and pimping it to perfection. It's funny to me because it's such a dinky little hatchback. We've never spoken, but we nod to each other like masculine dudes do.
In another house lives relatives of Gordasm. I don't remember how or when we realized I was neighbours with his family, but I suppose, for the sake of this post at least, it's fitting that I joined Vox via an invite from Gord.
Well, as long as I'm here, I might as well play along!
What's your morning beverage of choice? Coffee, tea, juice? Homemade or store-bought?
I usually sleep in the very last possible second that will allow me just enough time (and usually less than that) to shower, get dressed, and head out the door. This leaves one with little time for breakfast. I've never been a coffee-drinker, and there's no time for a cup of tea in the morning, so if there ever is a morning drink, it's juice.
Usually I go for grapefruit, but the little store down the street sells some locally-produced peach/mango juice that I can't seem to get enough of.
